“Onomatopoeia…My What a Word!”

October at Sonnets

October kicked off the season of change and growth, where every leaf tells a story of transformation and every lesson is a step toward new horizons. As the days grew cooler, our hearts and minds warmed with curiosity and the joy of learning.

Our curricular theme focused on words that “sing”, “buzz”, and “pop” with life! In our classrooms, we celebrated onomatopoeia—the magical sounds that bring stories to life and spark imagination.

Sonnets is proud to be connected to our community.

We embarked on a vibrant journey of cultural understanding exploring the rich traditions of Día de los Muertos and Diwali. Through engaging activities, storytelling, and art, little learners delve into the significance of honoring loved ones and celebrating the triumph of light over darkness. With the help of our volunteer families, we made colorful papel picado and rangoli designs, which allowed for a deeper appreciation of each other. We sparked curiosity and enhanced social emotional understanding, learning the values of love, remembrance, and community connection. Each child's unique story intertwines with the broader narrative of celebration and respect for different cultures.
